President Signs Medicare Extension

On Friday, June 25, President Obama signed the extension for the physician payment increase of 2.2%, which will be retroactive to June 1, 2010 and effective through November 30, 2010.

CMS will begin processing claims at the new rates no later than July 1. Claims paid under old rates (the 21.2% cut) during June will be reprocessed after the updates are made to the system. CMS states that providers do not have to resubmit claims at this time.
