Patient-Focused Care:
What Women Want You to Know About SAVI

21st CenturyLinda Holland had served as a patient advocate on the Patient Advisory Council at the University of California, San Diego Moores Cancer Center for over three years when she was diagnosed with DCIS.  With the help of radiation oncologist, Catheryn Yashar, M.D., Linda received accelerated partial breast irradiation with the SAVI® applicator in April 2009.

SAVI Users Show Excellence in Breast Care

Oncology Associates of San Diego and The Breast Center at Moores UCSD Cancer Center are among the first breast centers in California to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation of Breast Centers.

The program, run by the American College of Surgeons, recognizes those centers that provide the highest level quality of breast care, and requires a rigorous evaluation.

Both centers demonstrated their committment to cutting edge breast care as leaders in utilizing the SAVI applicator.

Julie Barone, D.O. of Oncology Associates was the first surgeon in the country to use the SAVI 6-1Mini, designed to deliver radiation to small and hard-to-reach cavities. UCSD was the first in California and the second in the nation to offer SAVI breast brachytherapy.

Congratulations to these two outstanding facilities for being recognized for their excellence in breast care!
