Why is it important for breast surgeons to utilize ultrasound imaging?

Ultrasound imaging is a valuable tool with applications across the entire spectrum of breast care, from diagnosis through treatment. Though the use of ultrasound isn't mandatory for breast surgeons, it provides critical imaging information that can help improve both efficiency and patient care. Particularly with the advance of breast brachytherapy procedures requiring post-operative image guidance, it is becoming increasingly difficult for surgeons to practice effectively without the assistance of ultrasound.
