Major Milestone for Device, Breast Brachytherapy Field
100 Patients and Counting
In October, Cianna Medical celebrated the treatment of 100 patients with the SAVI® applicator.
"SAVI is becoming a very important tool in the management of our breast cancer patients, because we can deliver breast brachytherapy to more patients than we could with its predecessor," says Constantine Mantz, M.D. of 21st Century Oncology.

SAVI Physics Data Presented at 2007 ASTRO
A study presented at the 2007 annual ASTRO meeting found the SAVI applicator potentially provides radiation oncologists with two important tools for treating breast cancer, including:
Optimized distribution of the radiation dose to the target area
Reduced radiation toxicity to healthy tissue, such as the skin surface or chest wall
The study was led by Salih Gurdalli, Ph.D. of Arizona Oncology Services, and co-authored by Robert Kuske, M.D. and Coral Quiet, M.D., both radiation oncologists at AOS.
