The BrachyBytes E-newsletter is designed to keep you up-to-date on physician experiences with the SAVI applicator as well as to provide general updates on the topic of partial breast irradiation.
 
In this edition, hear from Arizona Oncology, the first center to use the SAVI applicator.  Is your center accruing patients to the NSABP B-39/RTOG 0413 trial?  If so, enrollment has been closed to low risk groups.  Details below.
 

Arizona Oncology Services Completes Clinical Cases with the SAVI applicator!

 
Patients have now received APBI treatment using the SAVI applicator.  The devices were placed at Arizona Oncology Services (Phoenix, AZ) by Robert Kuske, M.D. and Coral Quiet, M.D..
                                                  

NSABP B-39/RTOG 0413 Closed to Low-Risk Patients, Sample Size Increased    

 
NSABP B-39/RTOG 0413
has accrued approximately 2200 patients to-date.  However, a larger proportion of low risk breast cancer patients have been accrued than anticipated.  In response, the trial has been increased by 1300 patients and patient accrual has been closed to groups specified in the attached update.
